Gascoyne In May is a cross-regional initiative developed in 2010 with support from the Gascoyne Focus Region Initiative partners Country Arts WA and the Gascoyne Development Commission. The GIM initiative is dedicated to developing the capacity, resources, policy for and delivery of sustainable, dynamic festival culture unique to the Gascoyne region.

Piloted in 2011, Gascoyne In May (GIM) is driven by the respective communities and has an intraregional committee comprised of a representative from the State Government - the Gascoyne Development Commission (GDC), the leading peak advocacy body for regional arts - Country Arts WA, Australia’s Coral Coast, each of the respective Local Governments and, of course the communities of the Gascoyne themselves: Festival committees, Shark Bay’s ‘Barefoot Black Tie’, Burringurrah’s ‘Festival of Fire’, Upper Gascoyne’s ‘Gascoyne River Music Festival’, Carnarvon’s ‘TropiCOOL Festival,’ and Exmouth’s ‘Ningaloo Whale Shark Festival’.
