Friday May 24 - Sunday  May 26

Exmouth WA

The annual Ningaloo Whaleshark Festival, in and around Exmouth WA, will be held from Friday May 25 to Sunday May 27. The festival highlights the community’s relationship with the annual return of the whale shark.

The Ningaloo Whaleshark Festival is a community event. Ningaloo Reef is a name recognised nationally and internationally as a ‘premier marine environment’, home to the most predictable, seasonal aggregations of whale sharks in the world. The Ningaloo Whaleshark Festival highlights the community’s relationship with the annual visit of the whale shark. The objective is to bring together government departments, business, industry and community members to strengthen their relationships, while enhancing the education and celebration of the whale shark. The aim of the festival is to share and learn from each other’s experiences, present new advances in technology, ideas and research, and most importantly, to communicate these urgent issues through networking with one another.

Gascoyne in May will in 2019 present 'Heartland Cartography'

Sunday 615 PM on Exmouth Beach at the front of the Exmouth Yacth Club

Heartland Cartography features percussion & a community choir which will provide a soundscape to accompany the building off of a fire sculpture. The performance is outdoors, in the round and starts with an epic sunset and a perfect Gascoyne winters day. Once built, you are  invited to leave notes, paper things that reflect your personal heartland maps of emotion on the fire sculpture. The tower then becomes an exclusion zone, is lit, aflame of release, of transformation & renewal. Then get ready to dance to the musical legends which are 'Children of the Tide', aerial antics of rising star Ms Milsy and much more!
